Case Votorantim

A internalization journey of the business of Votorantim began more than two decades ago when, in 2001, the Votorantim Cimentos acquired St. Marys Cement, expanding its operations to North America in alignment with the business’ geographic diversification strategy.

Over the following years, the Votorantim Cimentos strengthened its presence in the United States and Canada through a series of moves including joint ventures, acquisitions of new plants and expansion of operations. In 2021, the Votorantim Cimentos took another significant step in its strategy in North America, strengthening its positioning with the acquisition of McInnis Cement and the attraction of Caisse de dépot et placement du Québec (CDPQ) as a business partner.

Part of the company's internationalization and business evolution strategy Votorantim is based on the ability to form good partnerships and partnerships, the result of a solid reputation. By combining skills, it becomes possible to leverage complementary capabilities and create unique opportunities for businesses.

Another relevant example of this strategic front was the advance in the internationalization of Altre, a real estate investment company in Votorantim's portfolio. In 2023, Altre began operations in the USA and has since been carrying out various investments in this market through strategic partnerships.

The internationalization process continues to be an essential pillar in Votorantim's strategy of diversifying sectors, geographies and risk factors, contributing to business transformation and portfolio resilience in the long term.

Today, Votorantim and its portfolio companies are present in 22 countries, maintaining a focus on business diversification and expansion and generating value for its shareholders, partners, teams and communities in which it operates.
